Bridge To Heaven

Hearing John 3:16 we would think be enough for us to see the light
But yet for most it’s not enough, a picture is needed to paint the truth
So we paint the story of love the best we can yet it’s not always enough

Angle upon angle we try to get everyone to understand what we see and feel
Black and white, then color thank the Lord story of Love can be told many ways
Even tried putting the cold truth on the big screen but some thought was too harsh

Close the eyes of the flesh, open the eyes of the heart let these words be felt
Pretend we’re walking on roads upon roads all leading to this one crossroad
Yet no matter which way we turn come to roads end to a ravine

This ravine is narrow yet to far too jump across, when we look down see lava below
On the otherside is a big stone blocking a gate with a sign in front with these words
Only those without sin and have the key may pass into the promise land

Just when we give up and realize no other way but have a leap of faith to cross
Out of no where a man appears before we leap and says wait I will build a bridge
So He gathers two pieces of wood lays them across the ravine yet too narrow

Taking three nails took rope of his back to make rails for us to hold then laid across
Then He said if we believed he would hold the bridge together to walk across but please
Would we lay our burdens down on Him to make the way complete

With the sacrifice we walked across the bridge with each step felt burdens lifted
Hands of forgiveness had taken them as we took the last step across this bridge
Looked up in time to see the stone roll away to see on the other side to see Him

Couldn’t help to look back found the human bridge gone just a blood stained cross
That was all that remained, now look into the eyes of the one who made the way
The scars in his hands, his feet and side clearly visible like a key in a door

Now all we have to do is turn the key called Jesus open the door walk on through
At the same time some how the door to our hearts open now feel his hand in hand
As one walk into the light the darkness has now faded away gone forever

For God so loved the world He gave His one and only son as a bridge to heaven
Who ever believes could walk across lay their burdens down so they can be lifted
Through forgiveness the Key to open the door of eternal life is opened walk on through

Now open the eyes yet feel Jesus hand in hand tugging to walk with Him
Together feel the darkness flee letting only His light remain shining with love
No longer viewing with eyes of the flesh now we see with eyes of Grace
