I was doing some research in the library the other day on RVs and camping and such, and I found this book called, Granny D: Walking Across America in My 90th Year. It caught my attention, and my imagination. In 14 months this lady walked across the United States from Los Angeles to Washington D.C. to draw attention to the need for political campaign finance reform. She did this in spite of her arthritis and emphysema. She finished on February 29, 2000.
I don't know how I missed this amazing feat at the time, but I'm enjoying reading about it now. Has anyone heard of this lady, or read the book? |

Wow! I very vaguely remember hearing about a female sr citizen who was talking about doing some kind of protest walk but didn't know if it ever really came to pass.
