negotiable number 1 because they're not really considered a Christian band, even though they mostly are: U2
1. Iona
2. Disciple (live, if we're talking about recordings only then they drop down to maybe 10)
3. Phil Keaggy
4. Madison Greene
5. Waterdeep
6. Vigilantes of Love
7. Poor Old Lu
8. Ballydowse
9. Third Day
10. Burlap to Cashmere

honorable mention: Psalters, Sonicflood (all because of one song- Carried Away, and if they had even ONE more song half as awesome as that then they'd be top 10), Dave Crowder, Ceili Rain (pronounced KAY-lee), Moss Eisley, Izibongo, busker kibbutznik, Aradhna, The Crossing, Jennifer Knapp (who would have been about number 5 on my list if she hadn't been trying to be a rock star at Cornerstone when she's really a folk-rock singer/songwriter. If it would have been anything like her performance at the Louisville Billy Graham Crusade then she would easily have been top 10) and everyone who played at the Cornerstone blues night on Wednesday. And Living Sacrifice.

No, I don't like ethnic/folk music at all ;)

Peace, Love, and Jesus Christ,

Jason

VoL = Roolz :biggrin:

I saw both Bill Mallonee's solo show and the VoL show at C-stone. It was sweet. I kept going back and forth between Vigilantes and Madison Greene, they were playing on the C-stone Magazine and Gallery stages, respectively.

You should definitely make the trip next year, man. It's worth it.

Orpheus42

Yeah, after the first day I was like "there's no WAY I'll be able to catch everything I want to see" so I took a really relaxed approach to the rest of the week. I pretty much threw out my schedule and spent most of the afternoons at the Wycliffe Maloca tent where they were having ethnic music seminars, and spent a lot of time at the acoustic stage just seeing what was up, didn't know a lot of the names but there was a lot of good stuff there. And I pretty much hung out for the entire 6-hour blues show Wednesday night, and the whole ethnic music night at the Gallery on Thursday. I had a lot of fun and heard a lot of great stuff I would have missed had I stuck to my schedule and run around like an idiot.

3. twothirtyeight

I don't have any of her stuff, my roommate does. I just know I like the sound a lot.

I think her group is Clannad Anam or something like that, but I could be getting my people mixed up.

Thats the band of her family, where Enya started, but I know she has some individual stuff as well. One of these days I'll be rich and get all these great cds.

Now I must "take you all to school". The list of the best christian bands is:

1. Black Sabbath-need I say more?
2. Megadeth-God does indeed rock
3. Alice Cooper- the most famous PK in music
4. U2- God bless the Orange Men
5. The Benjamin Gate- go out and get their albums, they rock!
6. Rebecca St. James- the Christian Madonna
7. Jennifer Knapp- alt Folk queen
8. The Dixie Chicks- they rule!
9 Twila Paris- the most gracefull voice around
10 D.C. Talk- rock- not rap!

Orpheus42
03-16-03, 12:18 PM
Black Sabbath, Megadeth, and the Dixie Chicks are hardly 'Christian' groups ;) And IMO Alice Cooper qualifies but only from the last few years- about 3 albums or so.

:p

I like a lot of Sabbath's older stuff.
