We have a bar here that had a drive through. Of course, it also had seperate entrances and "dining" areas for blacks and whites. We're still a little backwards down here :)

Actually, Zech, its welcome to Alabama. ;) . Yeah, its true. Most Blacks are scared to go in the white entrance and vic vera. A few of each have gotten hurt becuase they went in the wrong way. Makes me ashamed to live around here. :(

It is rather disturbing, but racial tension is still very prevalent in the ex-Confederate states. My wife is Black, and we grew accustomed to being on the receiving end of funny looks in the South. (I am English, and white).

This racial tension is actually encouraged by the Black Churches, who boarder on active racism during some of their sermons. My wife's church seemed pretty normal most of the time, but every single time they had a visiting pastor, he or she would deliver a sermon that, had I given it from a White rather than Black perspective, would have seen me accused of racism.

For the most part, in everyday life, racism doesn't effect most southern people. Those people in the bars are ignorant and drunk, which is never a good mix. As for me, one of my best friends is black, and I would do any thing for her. Its is many older people and uneducated people(I hate to even say it)from my expiernce that still carry racism around. But hey, this is a whole other board, so I'll shut up now. ;)
