The events in Genesis occurred before the Law of Moses was given. Why is Genesis considered a Book of the Law?

The Law does not mean only Mosaic law. It is the traditional terminology for the first 5 books of the Bible, terminology used by the Jews of the Old Testament period and by Jesus Himself. Genesis also sets the basis for Mosaic law. It establishes that God created earth and all that is in it including humans and therefore has the right to set the rules.

Thanks, that makes quite a lot of sense to me. Particularly the bit about Creation and God's Right. :)

The book of Hebrews should be read along with Genesis because it gives a New Testament answer to what it presents.
