Someone posted a question which was accidently deleted. The question asked if their affinity for a female deity instead of God the Father meant they had to go to hell.
Here is my response:
No one has to go to hell. It is a matter of personal choice. God has done all that is necessary for each of us to spend eternity with Him. It is our choice whether or not we accept His gift.
All of us, every person, has sinned. None of us no matter how good or bad we've tried to be is righteous enough to be able to look God in the eye and say I'm just as righteous as You are so based on my own righteousness I deserve to go to heaven. The Bible tells us that in Romans 3:23. Our own lives tell us that every day too plainly. The consequences of sin is death, not just physical death but spiritual death and eternal separation from God. We find that in the Bible in Romans 6:23 and we find it in our own heart if we are honest with ourselves. That is the bad news. The good news is that when we were totally unable to offer anything that could possibly make up for our sin and help us avoid the eternal death penalty Jesus did for us what we could never do ourselves. He gave us a way to come to God and to be clean and righteouis in His sight. Jesus paid the penalty for us. He died in our place. And in His resurrection we have proof that God accepted that sacrifice as our full redemption from our sins.
This is a completed work but for it to do us any good at all we must accept the gift of redemption through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Otherwise we are like a person who always wanted to go to Portugal. His friends knew this desire and took up a collection and bought a ticket for him put it in a plain brown envelope and gave it to him. He was a bit offended really. Why would they give him this plain envelope when he had expected something much more special. He took it home, tossed it in a drawer and sort of forgot about it. Years passed and more years and the man died. He had had a pretty good life, 2 strong sons, 4 grandchidren a nice home. He just had one regret, that he had never gotten to go to Portugal. He died one Tuesday morning and after the funeral his sons were clearing out his things. One found the old brown envelope and wondered what it was his dad had kept so long unopened. About that time his brother said you know Dad had a good life but it was sad he never could afford to go to Portugal. Just as he said that the first brother opened up the old brown envelope and found the first class all expense paid ticket, vouchers for a 6 month stay in a beautiful castle, meal vouchres for all the finest places to eat in Portugal. Shaking his head and fighting tears he showed them to his brother. Dad could have gone. It was all paid for. All the best for him. But he never opened up the envelope and accepted what was in it.
Now that man is just a made up story but some people live their lives and die like that. The gift of salvation is available to them but they don't receive it for themselves because they don't like the fact that it only comes in Jesus Christ. I hope you will not be like that. It does not depend on feelings. The feelings come after you receive Christ not before. When you eat a a meal you don't feel full and satisfied until after you have received the food and eaten it. All you need to do is go by the plain and simple facts. You have sinned as we all have. Your sin seperates you from God and unless you find a remedy your sin will send you straight to hell. That is the same for all of us. There is only one remedy God says He accepts, the sacrifice of Jesus. That too is true for all of us. That remedy is available to you right now as a free gift because God loves you. Will you ask Jesus to come into your heart right now and be your Savior?
