Christians -v- Masons

I was recently listening to a discussion about christians and the masons, and became very confused.

The discussion was headed by a family I am close to, who have left their church due to the pastor's lack of action towards the number of masons in the congregation.

My step-dad, dad, uncle, grampa etc were/are all masons, and as far as I was aware, it was a very christian organisation, but they were all describing it as 'satanic'?

What are your views on this...should I be praying for them to resign from the masons? and if yes.....please pray for them for me.

My Father was a mason so I understand a bit what you are feeling on this one. My first realization that masonry was wrong came not through a study of their practices but through an experience with God. My dad died when I was 10 and most of his things were distributed to different family members. By the time I was grown and on my own I had few mementos of his life. One I did have was a masonic coin with a depiction of his name. I had been into a few not so good things and God was dealing with me to get rid of all that did not honor Him and especially things that represented ties to evil, opened doors for bad spirits, etc. That coin was something that God showed me I absolutely could not have. He drew my attention to certain things on it and helped me see that it was not just something of my Dad treasured it was a marker and a doorway for things that were not good. It was probably a couple of years later when I heard any solid teaching on the subject of masonry. It is sad that basic teaching like this that will help people see and become free from strongholds is not a part of the basic teaching program of many churches. There are some people who really believe they can be Christians and masons at the same time. And they may have Jesus in their heart and they could be going to heaven. Because of my Dad I really hope that that can be. But the effect is a bit like taking a good healthy meal and adding a bit of arsenic. It may or may not kill you but it will definately do harm and weaken you.

masonry is a secret society with secret religious rites and practices. That kind of secrecy and exclusivity is often a mark of a cult.
masonry teaches that all religions acknowledge a higher power and that it makes little difference what you call the higher power or how you worship that power apart of course from masonic rites. The have a character in their beliefs that almost mocks the life death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

These sites also answer why some pastors do not take a stand against these things though I think there may be an ignorance factor too but tells us Hosea 4:6 tells us God's people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
For more information beyond these sites you can do a net search but I would also suggest a heart search asking Holy Spirit to show you the truth of these things. There can also be spiritual ties and family inheritance in the spirit that you need to break at God's direction.

Father thank You that You have given Barney a desire to know truth. Your word promises that we will know the truth and that the truth will make us free. We claim that knowledge and that freedom right now for Barney and for his family too. Father please open the spiritual eyes and ears of Barney's family members who are into masonry and show them what You think about it and how it stacks up against Your word. Please bless them with a desire to serve Christ and Christ alone and an abhorance for any mixture.
