Hi, I just started my freshman year of college and am taking Intro to Anthropolgy, of course in this class we are learning about animals, primates, etc, that were around in the past. I am having a hard time figuring out where neandertal, and australopithicus fit into God's word. I just wondered if you, or anyone you knew knows a lot about this sort of thing, I really need someone to talk to who can help me. Thanks.

 My Dearest Child: Grandpa Here: I have read your letter several times and have been hunting a magazine around the house for some information data. I am going to render some opinions on your questions with the understanding that none of us were "Back there" to observe the forward progression of "Stuff".
First the bible is a book of Theology and God's Revelation about Himself. The entire Bible is a story of God's Mercy and Grace being presented to mankind in the form of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
The Magazine that I cannot find is a copy of "Discovery". In this certain edition, There was a treatise on the advancement of Mankind that could have been referenced out of Genesis. The main topic as I remember it is that some 10,000 to 20,00 years ago--Sudenly there is Modern Man all over the World. He and She are raising crops, Building roads, Towns, Cities, Reading and educating their young, Mining minerals, and on and on. The Mag. Article also says that these other Humanoid people existed, but when modern man hit town there was no consorting with the "Locals". Modern Man as we know Him and Her probably killed off the other humanoids. When I read this I sudenly remembered a portion of Genesis 1-28 that says:
"Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and SUBDUE it;"
I wish you good luck and many blessings in your education. Study and Learn all that you can. In about the first 8 chapters of the Proverbs, We are exhorted to get 3 things "Wisdom" "Insight" and "Understanding". These are given by the Great Comforter, The Holy Spirit of God. Ask for and seek these things and You will understand more that you can realize right now. May the Lord Bless greatly. Agape. Grandpa.:) :D
Hello Jess
Anthropology was part of my minor in college and I absolutely loved it. :) It was also one of the things that helped to bring me back to God when I had spent the last few years doing my best to run away.
The answer to your question is found between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." The Hebrew word that is translated was in the King James version of the Bible is hayah . A much more accurate translation would be became. The Hebrew correctly reads the earth became without form and void. Many Bible scholars believe that the earth had a form and was filled with life in the time between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. As evidence for this they cite God's command to Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. By saying replenish God is telling us that there was something on earth before it became without form and void. It is exactly the same idea as saying you fuill a glass the first time and refill it when you want some more. You would not refill something that had not had something in it before; you would just fill it. In the same way the word replenish tells us there was life on earth that was gone by the time God created Adam and Eve. Apparently something happened to destroy all that was on earth and God then moved by His Spirit to give earth form again and the beginning of Genesis starting at verse 2 tells us about this recreation. This time lapse and the idea of a major destructive event also explains much of the geologic evidence that earth is more than 6ooo years old. We are not told in so many words what this event was but it may well have been when Satan was cast out of heaven and a third of the angels with him. (Luke 10:18).
