Hello and welcome to ilj.
I’m glad to hear you have started to read the Bible. The Bible is God’s word to us and is the only 100% accurate guide for our lives. The best way to get started reading the Bible is to start with one of the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) . These books lay a foundation for us by letting us see Jesus here on earth, His dying for our sin and His resurrection. I usually recommend starting with John because that is the book that most shows us Jesus heart and talks the most about our relationship with Him of any of the gospels. Other people prefer to start with Matthew. Add in a few psalms, 23, 1, 2, 8, 100, 121, 150 are good ones to start with. There are a lot of reading formulas and many people really get a lot out of them. I believe that especially when a person is just starting to read the Bible it is better to read one New Testament book and read it through completely rather than jumping around and loosing the sense and sequence of what is written. After you finish the gospels go on to Acts, Romans and on through the New Testament. Acts will introduce you to the early church. Romans lays a foundation for our faith. By the time you reach Revelation you will have a better foundation to understand the symbolism and the timelines. I’ve put 3 links below that will help you. If you have questions as you read please post again and we will try to help.

 Hello: Grandpa Here: I too say Welcome to ILJ. We hope that the board collectively will minister greatly to you.
Mizz Ann's response is really good. You may want to print it because of the good data there (Websites & Scripture.) I would like to address the Revelation. It is true as Mizz Ann said that all need a good bible foundation to read and understand The Revelation. Here is a bit of data about this great Message from Jesus to John for us. In C-1 vs 1t3 we read that a blessing is given to all who 'read' and 'hear' the words of this prophesy. In C-1 vs 12 t 20 we can see that Jesus is the one who gave the words and He is described.
In John C 14 vs 1 t 3 Jesus is telling about going to prepare a place for us. This New Home is described in Rev. C 21. At the end of Chapter 22 we have a great Blessing.
More data: In Matthew C 24, we have the Olivet Discourse where Jesus talks about His coming again. Read this carefully several times.
If you are around some good Christian Book Stores, Look for books written by John Hagee, Hal Lindsey, and Jack Van Impe. The books by these authors are not fiction but are instruction aids on Bible Prophesy. In addition, If you can find any books by Arthur Bloomfield they are good. He was a Methodist Minister but now he is deceased. May the Lord bless you in Your studies. Let us know how you are doing. We care. Agape. Grandpa.:) :D
