View Full Version : My work
I just found out that about 1/3 of the people in my area at work are going to be laid off. Ouch! That's a lot!
eek
are you in danger of being laid off?
I wasn't in much danger last round, but with so many people, I think most everyone here has a chance of getting laid off. If I do get laid off, we'd have to move somewhere else probably. There aren't many jobs around here, but at the same time it's still relatively expensive. So we'd probably move somewhere cheaper.
Anyone have good ideas for good places to live? Right now, the options that we've discussed are Portland and Sacramento. Any other ideas? If you have a good place, let me know why you think it's a good place.
I'll be praying for you! God can do cool things - my dad has gone through so many lay-offs at his company that we've lost count. His department has gone from hundreds to jsut about 5 of them left. God will have you where he wants you.
Thanks! I'm not as worried about it as my wife is. Our baby is due soon, so if I get laid off, then she'll probably be REALLY stressed out.
I can see how she can get stressed - I'll pray for her too - when's the baby due?

I've heard Evansville, Indiana is a cool place, and we have cool golf courses ;)
Seriously man, praying for you.

Hey I'm prayin for you! Don't worry about it. It's all in God's hands!
In the area of good places to live....The Dallas/FtWorth metroplex here in Texas is a great area. Not just cause I live here, but there really are alot of opportunities in the vicinity. And it's nice warm weather year round! Like this week we had temperatures in the 70s =o) ANyways...ya'll are in my prayers!

(btw...when is the due date for the baby?)
Thanks for the support guys! The baby is due pretty soon, in 3 months. I'm going to have a March Madness baby! I'm hoping that the baby is born on Wednesday before the NCAA tournament starts, that way I can take the next 2 days off work and watch basketball! That's what I tell my wife anyhow. I guess if I get laid off, then I can watch all the basketball I want.
ok, so my list now is Portland, Sacramento, Evansville (because of the golf courses), and Dallas (because of Daisy, the jobs, and the weather).
Thanks again guys!
Oh yeah, we find out a week from today who gets laid off and who doesn't.
I just found out through unofficial channels that I'm not going to get laid off. But I'm still worried about some of my coworkers. It's not that cheap to live in this area and it is going to be hard for them to find jobs.

I'm happy for you. I will pray for your soon-to-be former co-workers.
Peace, Love, and Jesus Christ,
Jason
Rats! I got laid off! So did a lot of other people. Out of all of the people that I talked to, only one hadn't got laid off. My division is now 1/3 the size that it was when I started working there back in March.
ok, so the good places are Evansville and Dallas right? I gotta start throwing out resumes again!
sorry - hope everything works out for you! I'll pray for you.
