Hey...
After graduating I went to work for my dad, so I am the supreme guru of electronics these days.
How are you?

They really do need to make a live-action Voltron movie. They did it with the Transformers.

Sweet! I'll need to let my cousin know, as he and I were both Voltron geeks back in the day LOL.

According to Wikipedia, the early draft of the script gets rid of the Princess, and Planet Arus. I'm not entirely certain that I approve, but since it's still somewhat early in production, I hope that they'll change their minds.

Well, that would just suck. She may not have been an original character, but the Princess IMO played a fairly big key role in the series. She was one of the main reasons why I got hooked on the show to begin with. (well, that and Pidge, if they got rid of him that would just be blasphemy). But yeah, hopefully they'll change their minds and keep her.

I don't see a problem taking the basic concept to the big screen...
Distant future, an evil king threatens to take over the galaxy... the last hope is to restore the greatest defense the galaxy ever had... Voltron.
And what does New York have to do with anything anyway? I think that the Planet Arus / King Alfor storyline is a pretty good one. bah. humbug.

They'd better not get any ideas about car Voltron! :smash:

Basing it in NY would IMO go against the entire point of the story. Voltron is suposed to be the defender of the universe, not just a city - or even the earth for that matter.
The folks behind this idea probably never even watched the original series. Yarg.
And I don't know a whole lot about car Voltron. I'm all about the lions.

Yes, indeed. It does go against the whole "Defender of the Universe" thing. It definitely makes it too America-Centric to really be believable as "Defender of the Universe"...
The Lions were always my favorite. Although there was a crossover once where the real Voltron and the car Voltron fought together against an alliance of King Zarkon and whoever the car Voltron's bad guys were.

Lookie what came up on MySpace for me today... it's horrendously edited... but it's the first part of the first episode:

That's the only thing I don't like about Minisodes - they chop everything up to where it barely makes sense unless you have a clue as to what it was about to begin with.
That was cool to watch though. I suddenly had flashbacks of being 11 years old and trying to work the antenna on Saturday mornings just so I could get a good enough signal to watch! It's been so long since I've seen these shows.
See, they can't get rid of Arus. That's where the Castle of Lions is - where Voltron is! Where would they have it in the movie? The Empire State Building??
BTW if you dig around on YouTube, you can find some full episodes. I did a quick search just now and was able to find the entire 1st episode. They're all divided into multiple parts, but together they make up a full show.
Geez, I feel like such a geek LOL. (not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you)

LOL (picturing the black lion as one of the lions outside of the New York city public library (http://www.mojolion.com/images/ny_lions.jpg))
I agree... the story loses too much if you get rid of Planet Arus.
I was convinced to get Netflix a while back... and they have all 5 seasons available in their streaming "Watch Now" section :D

Haha, somehow I would not be surprised if they did try something like that. (with the NY library)
All 5 seasons?? Alright, now Ima gonna have to search around and find these on DVD! If any place would have them, it would be Suncoast. My inner child demands it! :smash: Voltron may be considered corny by today's standards, but it's still a lot better than the stuff they have on TV now that passes for cartoons.

Amazon has them... and the 20th anniversary die cast Voltron with real metal Blazing Sword....
Yes. Cartoons from the '80's beat the pants off of the drivel they produce today.

I believe my cousin may still have the original Voltron - the individual lions that fit together to create the robot figure. I remember thinking how cool it was. I know he still has all his Star Wars stuff, that boy is sitting on a gold mine as far as action figures go.

I used to have the original Voltron, but it disappeared. All I can find is the canopy from the Yellow Lion :(

I do not like it when stuff I know I had gets gone for no apparent reason
My mom got stuff gone on us kids regularly when she housecleaned. Some of that stuff would be worth something now.

So, I was at the mall today getting my oil changed and taking Hayden to see the Easter Bunny. And I thought to myself "Hey, I should stop by Suncoast and see if they have any of the Voltron DVDs available". And the store was gone!! Replaced by some lousy university clothing store! :smash: :wah: :redhotmad Oh well, guess I'll have to look online then.

Awww, that's too bad.
I know that Amazon has them in both a downloadable format through the Unbox thing and the actual DVDs. I've also seen them in Best Buy, but it depends on the Best Buy - the smaller one around here seems to have sacrificed it in order for shelf space for stuff I have no interest in.
