Does anyone know anything about honey? I have read some of the benefits concerning allergies, but, it is advised that you get the honey from your local area, but, it is so expensive compared. Does anyone know or had experience with this?

Local honey is normally recommended for ppl who are using it for allergies because the pollen is from local area and helps desensitize the person to these allergens. At the same time 3 cautions 1. Do not use this if supersensitive as there could be a serious reaction. 2. Be sure person selling the honey uses appropriate sanitary precautions. 3. Do not give to infants especially do not give unpasturised honey to infants because of risk of botulism see http://www.nutriwatch.org/06FST/honey.html

Thanks for the info Ann. I am looking into more for myself because of horrible allergies that trigger asthma so, no need to worry about infants. I was wondering though, I know some people who do not put their honey in the fridge after opening. They said it crystallizes. Is that safe? Doesn't sound like it would be.

Hi,

We never put our honey in the fridge after opening. Don't know why, just never had.
We normally get our honey from a local honey farm.....tastes much better then the store bought honey.
Another use for honey: When you get a burn put some honey on it. It helps it feel better.
