I read through a few threads where you guys mention Curves but thought I'd start a thead on it.
My mom has been doing this for about... oh 5 or 6 months, when she is doing the Atkins diet she loses wieght pretty fast. I've noticed that she is stronger and... (i hate to use this word) less flabby.
I've been wanting to exercise more lately, I'm fine wieght wise but being an exballet dancer I have a little higher standerd of what the fine tuned body looks like. Plus I was losing breath doing really simple things that I shouldn't turn a hair for. So I decided that I was going to get past my nervousness and go to Curves w/ mom. I think doing exercises with someone you know is harder then doing it alone. So I've gone to Curves twice now, and while I'm not in love with it, it is as close to loveing as I will get.
There is this big circle with I think 10 machines and inbetween are 10 little wooden recovery boards. There is this recorded tape that says "Switch" every 30 secs so you do a machine for 30 secs and then jog or stretch or whatever on the recovery boards. It nice because it's just long enough where you feel the muscles working but not to long that you get bored. The time passes very fast. Also the machines all work diffrent parts of the body so you get a whole work out. And it's mixed up so you work your upper and then your lower and then your upper... so on.
The machines are all pressure controled so you don't have to worry about them being to hard or too easy the difficulty is gauged by how fast or how far you move the equitment.
It's only women and they are mostly heavy older women. So there is no pressure with model women running 200mph on a treadmill in her super tight leotard.
Anyways I really liked it and intend to keep doing it. I think my moms glad because it will help her be commited.
The worst thing is that if you kinda step back and look at the ladies running around this circle danceing to hiphoppy music and all being controled by this monotoned voice you may start to doubt in the wisdom of humanity.
I really recommend it.
