After so many years of unhealth dieting and yo yo dietuing, can you ever get your metabolism back to normal?

The good news is:
Yes, and fairly quickly.
Try to eat six small meals a day, and try to keep a 2:1 Protien to Carb ratio. Low on Saturated Fats.
You'll be amazed at how quick the body can regulate.

Here is something that I never could quite understand. Why do alot of people gain weight when they stop smoking? Does nicateen effect the metabolism?
Hi Wainbow,
When someone quits smoking the metabolism slows down a little bit and a weight gain of five or ten pounds is normal. People usually gain much more weight when they replace the habit of smoking with the habit of eating too much. That's what I did when I quit smoking three years ago and I'm still trying to take the weight off and I still struggle with bad habits. If someone replaces the unhealthy habit of smoking with good choices and habits then they won't gain a ton of weight. Easier said than done but it's possible.:)

Thanks Teresa,
Well I'm glad to say that I never picked up the smoking habbit. I tried it out when I was young, but I did not like it. I started a good habbit about 10 days ago. I walk 2 miles a day now. (I drink alittle bit, but don't tell anyone, shhhh!) I have a fairly physical job, I work on stilts, and I'm a painter. Work is slow right now, so I took up some walking.
Good to me you sister!
