I heard that they're coming out with a movie version of the trilogy. Who's going to go see it? It's SUPPOSED to be good...but I'm still sceptical that they'll be able to pull it off. I'm always dissapointed by movies taken from novels, hardly any of them ever live up to their full potential, and Lord of the Rings would be a really tough one to do, in my humble opinion. I saw a movie version of the Hobbit once and it was quite pathetic. Of course, I suppose anything's possible. What do YOU think?

I think it "looks" fantasic, there's video clips from the movie on the internet. If it will do the story justice is another question I guess.
It's definately the one movie I'm anxiously anticipating this year.
I have a PDF file which has the booklet given out for the movie at the Cannes Film Festival, and it's stunning. If I get time later, I'll try to post some pictures from it.

I can't wait to see it!!! And I'm a HUGE skeptic, but the trailers and Peter Jackson's interview answers (asked tough questions about translating such a difficult piece of literature) were great. I think he's going to do a really good job with it. The amount of detail is what impresses me. To the point where certain blades will have Tolkien's elvish language actually carved into them. Elves in certain parts will actually speak the elven tongue with subtitles. My only apprehension is the amount of dialogue; and not IF he's going to cut some of it out, but WHAT he's going to cut out or rewrite.
As far as "The Hobbit" goes, it was a cartoon (shrug). And I liked it actually, but they had to simplify it for the audience (children). "The Lord of The Rings" cartoon (which only covers Fellowship and the first half of Two Towers) on the other hand was lame. I just found out yesterday that the same people who did Hobbit actually finished where "Lord of the Rings" left off. I liked Hobbit so will try to see it.

I can't believe you ever said that! Especially after you went and saw it a dozen times...

I went to go see it twice, not a dozen times. And I was still dissapointed that they didn't include Tom Bombadil, he's my favourite character, but once you got past that part into the rest of the movie, it was good! :)
