I have been hunting for food ideas since I know I need to eat healthier than I have been. I am currenlty a fast food junkie.

But here is the thing there are a few vegetables that I really can't stand. They are basically the ones that get tossed onto sandwhiches and due to this I find myself confused on what to eat that would be healthy. So I thought maybe some others would be alble to give me some suggestions, other than eating those vegetables that I don't like. :D

Vegetables that I despise:

Lettuce
Tomatoes
Peppers
Onions
Pickles

There are a few others that I am not fond of but those are the ones that give me that gag affect.

I know that Green Beans and Baked Beans have a high fiber content, and fiber is great for reducing fat-absorbtion! Also, Gereen Beans have no fat until you smother them in butter ;) and Baked Beans are low in fat... :)

Hmm.. I like green beans a lot. I never knew that they were a no fat food. Thanks for the tip!

No prob! My mother & I were looking up high fiber and low fat foods last week.. when I found out about those 2 I got excited... I don't get enough veggies, now I feel a little more motivated to eat 'em! :)

I have been a fast food junkie for a long while now. And soon I will have to break that habit because I will be living on support raised dollars. So I don't want to waste any on unhealthy food or maintain my fast food habits. But my strange distaste for those condiment veggies really hinders a lot of foods. My Mom told me I would grow out of this but I am almost 25 now and still like the same foods as when I was five. :D

And I wasn't sure who to ask about diet stuff, so I am glad I saw this forum here at ILJ.

I'm not big on vegetables either. But one thing that makes them better is going to a Farmer's market if there's one near you. The fresh vegetables seem to taste better than ones from the store. There is a farm right down the street from our house that we can go to and pick our own corn and green beans and they're really good. Also, when you say you don't like peppers, do you mean just the green ones? I'm not a big fan of green peppers, but I could eat a whole plate full of sliced up red peppers. They're sweeter and I think they taste a lot better.
I eat a lot of fruit too. Used to be fuji apples and navel oranges. Now it's bananas and strawberries.
Are you looking for some healthy recipies that you can make for yourself? Or more just different kinds of foods?

Don't sweat it! My hubby & I are both big time fast food junkies, but we've been living off of $195 a week for the past 7 months and couldn't afford to eat out more than once a week (and our limit for that lunch was $15 for the 3 of us)... now we are making $250 a week and have a tad more leway, but I still don't want every meal to be unhealthy...

Last night I made Crustless Spinach Quiche! It was wonderful! I have the recipe on my website, on the page"Wife"...

Okay here's a list

Cucumbers
Carrots
Celery
Asparagus
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Spinach ( I can only stand it raw)
Bell Peppers (all colors)
green beans
All Lettuces
Cabbage both red and green
Wax Beans (look like green beans only yellow)
Endive
All greens ( I don't eat most of these)
squash (zucchini, and summer squash)
okra
banana peppers
all large hot peppers
Onions (all green red, yellow and white)

These are all what are called free foods.

Very high in nutrient, high in fiber (mostly if eaten raw) and very low calorie.

Here are the starchy ones and should be eaten in the same volume you would consider bread.

All dried beans, peas, legumes etc.
Corn
Potatoes
Winter Squashes (butter nut, acorn, spaghetti etc)

These are the Veggies that most of us think about.

Eat fewer of the starchy ones and more of the "free" ones

Watch tomatoes, they tend to be high in sugar as they are actually a fruit.
