CHRISTIAN WEB HOSTING AS LOW AS $8.95 A MONTH

http://www.christianwebhost.com/

This is Pam and Lance's business I hope they don't mind that I posted an ad for them.

They do a great job and if you are looking for a webhosting service this is a good place to look.

Great service.....lots of features........reliable servers.....no hassle.....easy to navigate admin page....I highly recommend Christian Web Hosting if you're in the market for your own webspace and are ready to say "so long" to those pesky pop-up/banner ads on the free sites.

I sound like a commercial! LOL. I had more than one anxiety attack over the prospect of setting up at my own webspace. I was accustomed to one of the free sites that held my hand through each step. Once I finally decided to take the plunge, Pam gave me a couple of pointers and off I went. I don't use too many of the features offered there because I have a very small, simple type of site. But there's LOTS there that could be utilized for setting up a powerful Internet presence.

PS - the Admin support is great!

Like your site but I think your count on homeless kids is too low. If there are 1 million homeless kids in NYC (according to the Institute on Children and Poverty) and we have over 3000 homeless kids in rural NE GA the whole rest of the country has to have more that 320,000 or am I having discalculea again?

you might have exagerated numbers. some institutions take the high number. if 1 million kids are homeless in NYC alone, more than 1 in 8 people are homeless there. since that number says "kids" it would be more like 1 in 6 people. that's highly unlikely. and if it's true, it's horrifying.

i supplied my sources on my website. I always go with the median numbers because they're more likely to be accurate.

thank you, by the way.

The NYC numbers I use are from Institute on Children and Poverty one of the best if not the best regarded research institutes on this subject cooberated by National Association for the Educatiuon of Homeless Children and Youth and US Dept of Health Education and Welfare. Mckinney Vento definition of homelessness vs HUD which does make some difference. The NE GA numbers are identifiable count by helping agencies and schools using a unique identifier for each family and child to eliminate duplication of count, again McKinney Vento definitions. BTW HEW says undercounting is one of the most serious obstacles in getting appropriate services for homeless kids. I am sure the NE GA count is low not exaggerated (it actually omits all of one county which had no cooperation from schools in avoiding duplication and has only partial figures for another 2) and given the percision I know ICP uses I am very content with their figures. It has always been our policy at CHM to go with understatement not overstatement if it is not possible to have an exact verified count.

On a related subject please pray for a regon wide forum on hunger and homelessness we are doing late summer / early fall. Prayer would especially be needed that it build bridges of cooperation between ministries, agencies, schools and that it result in sharing practical solutions especially grass roots answers that are working and can be duplicated, that turff guarding not hinder the work and the spirit, and that certain govt. (school) administrative ppl not try to stonewall or buffalo (and that we especially I have a decent attitude towards them and the wiswdom of the Lord on how to work around theoir hinderences if they do.). Re: one such especially that I will love him with God's love and not react with my own anger. Ah for God's permission to speak to that 2 footed mountain. But I think He would rather I spoke to the mountain of attitude and 'what problems here never' than actually cast him into the sea.

well, i don't want to argue or nitpick, but ICP (http://www.homesforthehomeless.com/index.asp?CID=3&PID=18) says http://www.homesforthehomeless.com/images/imagelibrary/facts_general.gif

1.35 million homeless children a year nation wide. that's the number on my website as well.

i will pray for you, and the homeless. too often i leave them out of my mind. the area i live in is especially odd with about 900 homeless in this area, and over 3000 "philanthropists" who have give over $100,000 to charity a year. it's sad because the animal shelters sometimes have better facilities and better funding than the homeless shelters.

it's sad because the animal shelters sometimes have better facilities and better funding than the homeless shelters.

Here the situation is that there are animal shelters but no kid shelters. But then at least that means the folks here who give critters even ones with tags under 24 hrs can't get their hands on the kids.

I'll call Ralph Nunez at IPC and see what is what with the conflict on figures. I have their stuff sitting on my desk. They apparently have adopted Caring Hands and send us freebies because they know we have no $ and because I used to have the display area next to theirs at NAEHCY. Have you seen Voyage to Shelter Cove and Cooper's Tale? He has the neatest way of using kid stuff and animals to make such strong points.

We may need to start a separate thread re homelessness so we don't hijack this too far. It is so great to know others who really see the Lord's care for folks who need His help so desperately just to survive. God bless you.
